To my knowledge, Stef has no formal knowledge of music and has learned everything on his own since he started playing music / formed Darkseed. On the first Darkseed demo, "Sharing the Grave", Stef was about 16 or 17 years old.

Stefan actually doesn't like most Metal, and in fact, seems to hate the Metal scene. He hasn't listened to a lot of Metal since he was younger. He at one point had old demos by In Flames and Dark Tranquility, and things like that. I don't know if he has since sold them, though.

Talking to Stef, I'd say he's actually borderline hating Metal. He enjoys ambient / ethnic / world music.

Stef would probably say that his best music is whatever his most recent work is. The way Stefan is, he'll quite like an album once he's finished, but as he moves on and starts working on a new album, he likes the last one less and the new one more.
He has expressed much favor for "Midnight Solemnly Dance", however, as he often says that has the most / best energy. Since "Ultimate Darkness" and "Pulse" are his two most recently released album, those are most likely his current favorites; he's currently working on a new Shiva In Exile album, so that very well may become his favorite (or in his opinion, best, work).
So, to be short, one of the following: "Midnight Solemnly Dance", "Pulse", "Ultimate Darkness" or the new Shiva In Exile.
I'm sure Stef can come along and correct me on anything that I'm not quite right on.
What shall I correct if there isnīt anything to correct? LOL Thanks, Don, and hi (as usual!) to our metal friends from IRAN!!!!
Hm one small note, I defenitely donīt hate metal music itself, hehe (some components of the scene: yes - however, "hate" is the wrong word, Iīd call it "dislike", I donīt hate anybody and anything), metal is simply not the music style that accompanies me through my current phase of life. Itīs absolutely understandable that it does for other people (as it did for me too, for many years), but I must say that I donīt listen to music at all in my freetime (except some Dead Can Dance or Omar Faruk songs when wandering through nature or to the post office, hehe).
Well Stef, I tend to exaggerate a little. What I mean is that, Stef is not very into Metal music or the metal scene these days, as it's no longer where his heart his.
Hi Mechanic, the new Shiva album is in the works. Don't know when it'll be out yet, but it should be sometime in 2007. A few tracks are already (mostly) done, one of which being "Khundas" off of the 8 track version of "Pulse".
I know you are not a fan of America. I am wondering, would you ever play a venue in America with one of your music projects? If not, how come? Some Americans are decent people and love your material!

It's not that Stefan isn't a fan of America; he's well aware that Americans are decent people and love his work (I'm American, after all, and so are numerous other members of this board and the Darkseed board). However, last time I talked with him about it, Stefan doesn't really like playing live, in general. Not to mention that the trip to America would be very costly, and given the size of America, fans actually being able to attend such an event would be a tricky situation; Darkseed fans are spread about from the East coast to the West coast in all kinds of different areas, with no real huge crowd in any one location.
But once again, Stef, feel free to correct me if things have changed.
No, certainly not, though Stef does, at times, insist that I write his biography or act as some sort of spokesperson for him, or something.
I've spoken with him a lot on such things, and at times, when a fan posts questions on the board and I don't know the answers, I'll ask him, as he doesn't always have time to come by here and answer them himself. Trust me, you're not the first person to ask if he would play a US venue; very few of the questions asked around here or on the Darkseed board (when it was still active) are new. I sometimes get very tired of repeating myself on some of them, which is why I had made a FAQ on the MySpace page. But then people can't be bothered to fucking read it, and keep asking the same damn questions. And instead, people plagiarize it and neglect to credit me, so I think I ended up deleting it or something.
Still, it's just part of being a fan of his music for a number of years, and having talked to him a fair amount over the last.. Two years, about.
Damn it Stef, for the last time, it's under the table where your computer is. Stop losing it!
Edit: Also, Solaris, don't take that as me being annoyed by your questions; you're always free to ask them. But that's why I always have these answers ready. They're often asked. At the moment, the FAQ on the MySpace page seems to be gone.. For the life of me, I can't remember deleting it, but who knows, so I don't blame you for asking the question. But when it was up, we'd still get questions that I had answered in the FAQ. Or even on the MySpace page, we've been getting comments like, "Keep up the good work!" and what not, when there are articles right there on the main page saying that Darkseed isn't making music anymore. I should note that there is a difference between your question and the typical one, though; your's was more of a hypothetical question and thus understandable and deserving of an answer, rather than an outright demand for Darkseed to come to where you live, which is what most people do. That is, "Would you ever play a venue here?" is considerably different from, "WHEN ARE YOU COMING TO PLAY IN MY COUNTRY!?".
Anyway, that's enough rambling from me. Hope that clears things up.
I'm from Maryland, on the East coast of the USA. Besides dealing with this stuff on the two boards, I'm a college student currently going for a higher degree in Computer Science. My free time is spent with my girlfriend, but I've also been known to study martial arts, play video games, play the guitar, write, travel and other such things.
